the world. In addition to our corporate headquarters, Alexion's facilities include
a manufacturing plant in Smithfield, Rhode Island, EMEA (Europe, Middle East &
Africa) region headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, a European shared service
center in Paris, distribution and sales operations in major markets throughout Europe,
and new operations in Sydney, São Paulo, Ontario and Tokyo. The company is also
expanding its reach in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
Cheshire, CT, USA
Global Headquarters
Approximately 250 employees work at Alexion's worldwide headquarters in Cheshire,
Connecticut. These offices and laboratories house a wide range of functions including
the company's management team, research and development, clinical development, regulatory
affairs, medical affairs, commercial operations, human resources, finance and corporate
communications.
Located in the greater New Haven area, Cheshire combines the livability of a residential
community with access to some of the nation's leading cultural, academic and business
centers. With a harbor on the Long Island Sound, New Haven offers a variety of water
sports, fine dining, world-class shopping and other recreational activities. The

Smithfield, RI, USA
Manufacturing
Alexion's biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Smithfield is located just
minutes from Providence, Rhode Island, one of New England's leading business, academic
and cultural centers. This year, the state of Rhode Island ranked #10 in Forbes magazine list of the healthiest states to live. Purchased by Alexion in 2006, the Smithfield plant has undergone
more than $100 million in renovations and retrofitting to bring it up to global,
state-of-the-art standards for manufacturing and quality. Our 100 employees in Smithfield
produce Soliris for both clinical and commercial purposes as well as other compounds
in clinical development by Alexion. With FDA approval of our commercial drug production
(expected in 2010), Smithfield will begin supplying Soliris to domestic and international
markets.
Lausanne, Switzerland
EMEA Headquarters
Alexion's EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) region headquarters is based in
Lausanne, Switzerland and oversees the company's operations in Europe, the Middle
East and African territories. Situated on Lake Geneva and not far from Geneva itself,
Lausanne is a city of spectacular views and lively culture, including a large international
student population.
Paris, France
EMEA Service Center
Located in the heart of Paris, just a stone's throw from the renowned Champs Elysées,
Alexion's European shared services center is home to a number of functions that
support the company's European operations. The central location of our offices enables
employees to benefit from all the renowned cultural, academic and scientific activities
available in France's capital city and one of the world's leading business and cultural
centers.
Tokyo, Japan
Japan Headquarters
Alexion is currently seeking regulatory approval of Soliris in Japan. To support
our Asian operations, we established offices in Tokyo in 2008, and expect our presence
in the country to grow following approval of Soliris. Located in the Hiro-o section
of Tokyo, Alexion's offices are central to many of Tokyo's best shops and restaurants,
and can be easily reached by public transportation.
Sydney, Australia
Pacific Rim Headquarters
In early 2009, Alexion established an operational base in Australia's largest city
and financial capital, Sydney, to support the company's entry into Australia and
other Asian markets.
The team in Sydney is focused on the core functions required to introduce Alexion
products to all viable markets in the region, and supports expansion of Alexion's
clinical research in the region. Our offices are located in the suburb of Brookvale,
close to the stunning northern beaches of Sydney and its world-renowned harbor,
and only 30 minutes from the city and airport.
